Good Service and my recommendation for these businesses!

March 25, 2010

In these recessive times, we are all to often drawn to the big supermarkets, the fast food chains and the multi corp retail outlets, but there is still hope…some people can still give good service, supply great products and be a pleasure to deal with. Here are just a few of them:

Crystal Clear valeting on the Liverton Trading Estate, behind Mc Donalds. Excellent, good price, polite and friendly (Plus English!) Give them your custom, five stars from me….

“Coles” The only Butcher in Budleigh Salterton, famous for his pies, great selection of Cheese and tasty meat. He may not be the cheapest, but you get what you pay for!

Fairlynch Museum, Budleighs very own repository of things historic, not only a beautiful old building, but packed with interesting exhibits. Well worth a look if the weather is not “a la beach!”

True Reflections, a funny little shop, but ideal for that present for Gran or a watch strap, bit of silver or whatever. Nice helpful couple who have been there years. Good “Old School Service”

The Brook Gallery, located down the lower end of Budleigh, toward the beach. Always a good mix of artworks and frequent exhibitions. Worth a browse if art is “your bag”!

Kings Garden Centre, situated on the Hulham Road, out of Exmouth. A pretty much normal selection of plants and stuff for the greenfingered, but their cafe!! Wow, great prices, great grub and buy a couple of there chees scones for later……hell I am salivating already.

The Ocean House Cafe and Deli. In the former “King William” public house, this little gem does superb coffee, the staff are friendly and the food is lush…Big points to the “Beef open sandwich” Yummmm! At last a cafe in Budleigh that does not specialise in “pre chewed food for elderly folk”! A touch of class at last, they definitely get five stars from me.

The Redwing Inn at Lympstone, recentley saved from being demolished and turned into more holiday homes for “Tarquins and Felicities”! This little gem has nice grub and super beer. Plus having the benefit of not belonging to a blood sucking brew-corp, they have beer at a good price, often a couple a t £2.50 or less. Super destination via the new cycle track from Exmouth to Exeter, beside the estuary. Veer right in Lympstone and cycle up through the village a quarter mile, pass the Swan and round the corner is the Redwing…Enjoy.

The “Card Shop Too”, run by local councillor Steve Hall. Steve carries a huge range of cards, some books, toys and all those gift related things, local postcards, diaries, calenders etc Always get my cards there, when I remember peoples birthdays that is!

Staddons garage, our only petrol in Budleigh and a good selection of used cars and MG/Rover dealer. Again, they are not the cheapest, but you never hear anyone has “bought a lemon” from Staddons. You pay your money you take your choice. Good workshop facilities out the back, mots and the legend that is “Nobby” in the workshop. Your in safe hands with Staddons.

For fancy dress costumes for young and old, superb service and again a big five stars from me, try Costume Market. On-line fancy dress at:
